Ok you guys were so helpful in my first thread(especially Danswfla) im back for one more question. I know you all preach "its not the unit it's the installer", so with that said(and noted) out of these two units which would you prefer?

Bryant Preferred Model#126BNA042 3.5 ton 16 seer with FV4CNF005 air handler or

York LX model# YCJF42S41S4 3.5 ton 16 seer with AHE42 air handler

Thanks so much for your input

Erin

First, I would go with a H/P in Florida. But, to answer ur question, the Bryant has a "variable-speed" blower motor (the best).

The York guy is trying to low ball with a X13 motor (better than a PSC motor).

See........like we said.......it depends on the contractor.

I would ABSOLUTELY NOT HAVE A HEAT PUMP. Those are for climates where you actually have to heat your house.
That's not something we have to do every year in SW FL.
I did not have to use Any heat from 2003 -2007.

Unless, you are talking about body heat,
...................................... _______that's MY Furnace.

I used H/P's at one time, Hewlett Packard calculator, that is.:grin2:

Dan, I have a hard time with this....
I don't know if he is just on the coast or inland further?
We are about the same climate as (very west) SW Fla. and H.P.'s are the way to go here. (We hit 38 last night)

Especially if you have a wife like mine!

Whats wrong with a heat pump in Florida. Just do not install aux heat, and the few times you need heat the hp can handle it much more efficiently than straight electric heat strip heat. Unless gas is cheaper to use than the electricity to power heatpump only.

It might go below 45'F about 50 hours a year.
If it's 70'F during the day NO heat needed.
The heat doesn't come on when the t-stat us still set for cooling.
MS would be more than 350 miles North of me.

i would take the bryant as i think that that york has the crappy micro channel condenser
nothing wrong with micro channel.....unless you do not understand it...if that is the case do not sell it.......

Id go with the York but would definitely opt for a heat pump and upgrade to the AVG air handler with a true ecm. There is alot of adjustment capabilities in that air handler and settings for different climates.

I don't sell either so my advice is based on servicing both brands over more than 25 years. I have a slight preference for Bryant over York.
I think the determining factor should be the quality of the installation. Which company did the most thorough examination of your house, including the duct system? Did they perform a heat load calculation to determine the proper size for your new equipment? Did they offer you choices and features to meet both your needs and your budget?
BTW, I recommend a variable speed blower motor for the best de-humidification and comfort.

Are you going to buy a bus and drive it for 8 years in order to go out to the beach Once a Year with 7 friends?
