My guys call and say "We can't install this. The sales rep must have not looked in the attic." I drove by to see why we couldn't replace a 4 ton air handler.
The ENTIRE home has a vaulted ceiling. So. Where do you put the air handler?
Well. Let's built a REALLY small closet for an attic. Upright.
And let's CRAM an air handler in there.
That's 40 inches tall. And crammed up against the roof! No way to fit a modern 4-ton heat pump air handler in there!
And how are we going to get the old one OUT? That's a really small attic access. Too small for any air handler nowadays.
That's it, that's the whole attic.
No room to lie an air handler down.
No room to put a new one in.
No room to get the old one out.
For goodness sake it's crammed between the trusses. It's touching the roof.
Did you think to ask WHERE the supply connector is?
I couldn't see it! ! ! !
There also was no room for a secondary drain pan.
In fact the primary drain didn't have room, they had to cut into the roofing supports to make room for a drain line.
This was also just wonderful design by the builder: right outside the master bedroom.
Thanks. Whoever you are.
There's a whole subdivision of this out there.
