Do you get paid for driving to your 2nd job, 3rd job, etc. of the day? Then why not get paid for driving to your 1st job of the day? Yes, some shops do take advantage of the worker, charging portal-to-portal, charging 4 hour minimums, etc. and not wanting to pay for said.

We are trying to get this language approved for our Schedule A:

"Travel & Subsistence

17.62-63(C), 17.64-65(C), 10.15(H), 10.60(J), 23.1(S) To Clarify & To Add:

Employees will be paid for any Travel Time, before and after their normally established work hours, in excess of Reasonable Commuting Time. Reasonable Commuting Time is considered the time it takes for Employees to travel to and from job assignments within a 50-mile radius or one-hour drive time (N,C). Travel Time is paid at the Straight Time wage rate and no fringes (as per the MSCA website).

Note: Travel Time & On-Call Stand-By Time shall not be considered as Hours Worked and therefore not included in the calculation of contributions for plans, programs, or funds. Such as stated in “Section 10.6(S)”.

Residential/Light Commercial Employers who do not factor in portal-to-portal travel within the 50-mile radius, usually due to non-union competition, may request for Employees to travel from their final job of the day on their own time NTE one-half hour."

N = NSMA, C = Carrier Agreement, H = Honeywell Agreement, J = Johnson Controls Agreement, S = Siemens Agreement

That is correct, the Schedule A is just for the National Service Agreements. There is some Locals that have adopted the NSMA as a "Local" Service Agreement.
There's no OT or DT on actual Travel Time, but there is also no give-back time. It's all roundtrip a.k.a. p-t-p.

If we succeed, only residential/light commercial shops could qualify for this:
", may request for Employees to travel from their final job of the day on their own time NTE one-half hour."

Very true.

The current Schedule A can be viewed on the MSCA website. Sadly, the current Schedule A is the same as the "sample document" in the NSMA except signed off.

Feel free to explore all of the SchA's. You'll see Ratios mentioned on some, clarification of duties, restrictions of Tradesmen and Servicemen, etc. These items should be brought up specifically towards a possibly offending shop. To each their own though.

Why is there a double-line spacing?
