Normal 404a operating pressures?

I am a Journeyman, but I strictly work on residential units. Never had to work on a 404a system. A friend of mine had me check out a reach in freezer at his restaurant. He said it seams to always be in defrost. I checked out the system after defrost, and it is freezing far to quickly. It seems like it may be low on refrigerant but I have no idea what the operating pressures are suppose to be. Thank you for any help guys.

Check the subcooling. It will be way low if the unit is low on charge. If the subcooling appears normal but the superheat is higher than expected, look for a restriction or bad/improperly adjusted TXV.

Your working on a freezer coming straight out of defrost. It's normal to frost right away as the termination switch will keep the evap fans off till the coil cools down. Are the fans running? Do you have the lid off the evap case if the evap is on top of the box?
You could always consult a PT chart.

Most of those small reach in 404a self contained freezers run a low of 10psi and 175 head average. If compressor and suction line is freezing up on you quick may be Overcharged , check you super and sub

What is the box temp once it comes out of defrost? Is the product inside frozen? If yes is the answer to these questions ...look for pressures around 18-20 low side and 200 ish high side. This assuming your condenser coil is CLEAN!

If the box is warm and the then look for slightly higher pressures.

How hard is the product? What is the product?
How in hell can the unit be low of freon and be "freezing far to quickly",at the same time??
What does "freezing far to quickly" meen?
Res AC? What is the SCT on a 70*F ambient and a 95*F ambient? It is funny how close the 404 SCT mimics R22/R404a.
The low side is slightly different.
