Catchy title but true three times, on the verge of 4.

Nordyne GB5BM-T30K-B

First time the breaker wasn't re tightened
Second was the wire connection/plastic housing on the top coil/element.
Third was the control board.

Everything was replaced new by a local company.

Last night I heard the unit try to turn on when it didn't need to. It was doing the click sound every 15/20 seconds until I turned the breaker off. It will work if the temp is lower than the room temp. It will turn off upon reaching the set temp but then the clicks start.

This morning I seen the wire housing on the top element had melted a little at some point. I also noticed that the elements are of a different rating. This is where I'm a little puzzled. Why are they different? Shouldn't they be of the same power rating? Top is 9.6KW bottom is 4.8KW.

I'm not exactly sure why this unit keeps doing this every couple of years.

Chime in on some ideas or if you need additional information.
Thanks

Loose wire connections, heat relay stuck closed, even low airflow from dirty filter, coils, blower, or weak capacitor. Was airflow ever tested? Is the breaker and wire size correct? In my area people that install nordyne equipment do not know how to do any of the above.

That would be apparent in this area also. As far as I know it all was checked when it was installed. But today I found out that the installer never activated the 10yr warranty it was only 5 but he told me it was a 3 yr warranty. What a mess.

Also I thought a 60 amp dual breaker was a bit much.

What does the wire size say... specifically AWG (X) size?

12 off the breaker to sequencers and relay and to left and right sides of elements. 18 off the control board to relays. The wire for the blower is bigger than the 12 but smaller than the main feed. The feed all I can see is type nm-b 600v 6/3 with ground.

You did good... the information I was looking for, is in your post.

You, my friend, need an electrician.

Note: This is NOT a DIY forum... so I have gone as far as I can...
Get an electrician out to repair the wiring issue to your unit.
