Hello, Ladies and gentlemen. I would like to thank the administrators for allowing me to join. I'm an appliance tech trying to jump in to HVAC career at 45. I have been self employed for over 10 years and I have been a repair tech for 20 . I would like to get some pointers in how can I merge my skills in to the Hvac industry. Thanks in advance for positive criticism.

Welcome to HVAC-TALK.

Because you are a tech, I moved your thread out of the “AOP Residential” forum where homeowners ask questions, to the “General Discussion” forum.

Please take note of this new location as the “Moved” icon in the AOP forum will only last a day.

This forum will be a great resource for learning. Please get your post count up to 5 and apply for “PRO” membership - it's free.

Pro membership will allow you access into the "LOCKED" Pro forums where the best minds in the industry can assist with your questions.

Here is where you apply - https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1...rms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf-RgT4jIRT6xI9RScRcSOY_j1rJ1lcZKcAlLvijdzOSdubhw/viewform?pli=1

You have come to the right place to learn & grow your business.

Like rundawg says above, get your post count up so you can get to the good stuff.

When you get that Pro designation and can get into the educational forums, work on learning the theory and the refrigeration cycle. If you can already fix appliances, you probably have enough electrical understanding to get rolling.

I definitely like the fact that information has not been privatized just that much yet in HVAC as much as it has on appliances. I'm afraid lots of them are going to be replace only. Not to mention the risks of damage components in the process of service.

For what it is worth, you really have no idea how much of a resource this site is for both beginners and even the most experienced.

Stick around if you want to provide awesome service and your income to increase.
