Hello everyone. Great little forum you all have here.
We just had a new 4-ton Comfortmaker system installed a few days ago(outdoor compressor and a-frame coil). The company was very honest, professional, did a great job from what I can tell, and did a lot of work in my attic(for free) that I wasn't even expecting. And of course, I have a warranty. So yes, I am calling him to come check it out, and I'm sure he will figure it out. But I am going to monitor this over the weekend and make sure I'm not out of my mind.
Climate: I'm in Houston, hot and humid. It's been 93-94 and sunny during the day. Night time temps are 74-77, and very humid.
During the day everything is great. I get a 18-20 degree difference between the return and registers. It seems like it works better, the hotter and sunnier it is. Blows ice cold. We keep it on 75 during the day. Here's the thing. About 10pm we turn it down to 69 degrees, and the last two nights I've noticed it took a really long time to bring the temp down, we are talking a few hours. I check the temp difference and I was only getting a 8-10 degree difference. Huh?
I just tried a little test. It's the hottest part of the day, and I just brought it from 75 down to 69 in about 40 minutes. It was frigid while sitting at my desk near the vent. Last night, I sat at my desk near the vent for 2 hours and never felt "cold air" while it ran non-stop.
This seems very odd to me, but I'm sure you all have seen this before. What gives?
