As most of you know I'm #5 on the Local 392 scheduled for the class to come in between Apr-Jun.
I'm not working right now and I have two job offers on the table
Job #1 is with a local non-profit company who needs a maintenance guy who knows hvac. Great benefits, off at 3:30, mon-fri with on call rotation once every three months. They want me to work on ptac's. I've never done that before. I'm pretty sure I could pick up along the way but I don't want to get into something I'm maybe not ready for. They are offering $15 hr.
Job #2 is with company called American Power. They want a helper to travel with installation group state to state to install in power plants and commercial buildings. I get a truck and destination and I roll out. Hourly rate is $10 hr. They pay me $30 per day for food and they pay for the hotel room plus drive time. I get paid time and 1/2 after 8hrs and time and 1/2 all Sat and Sun. They require I work 7 days 12 hr each day. Each assignment is 2 weeks long and I return home for a week and head back out. There is a chance to move up.
The dilemma is that if the Union calls me I'm more than likely going with the Union. I really don't want to commit to a job then quit I have to choose the one that is a better fit for my eventual departure.
Job #2 will pay me more when you factor everything in but I have to leave the wife and kids.
Job #1 won't pay as much but I'd hate to get in there and have to roll out because they are good people.
I'm confused!
I have to make a decision this week.
Help!!!!!
