Could anyone recommend someone to install central air (or possibly heat pump) as well as ductwork (none existing currently) into our 1937 Cape Cod home in Arlington VA? We currently have radiant heat (hydronic). We have issues with insulation/air infiltration at the kneewall in the second floor finished attic. However, we do not intend to run ductwork to the second floor so I'm not sure if that is relevant. We will likely use a window unit up there for the timebeing and then have a duct-free split unit installed.

My priorities are
Properly sized. Properly Installed. Properly ducted.
Price is of course important, but secondary to the above.

I have talked to four contractors thus far and am only somewhat comfortable with one of them. I THINK they will do a good install, but still have some reservations. I would like to speak to at least one other knowledgable person before I decide.

Do you have a brand preference?

No, no preference. The one contractor which most impressed us (salesman actually) uses Carrier.
