I have a trane 3-ton unit that has stopped blowing cool air 3-4 times in past 6 months. Originally, somehting has eaten wires to compressor. Next time circuit breaker blew. Last two times the serviceman had to replace wires because they had blown. Note, the circuit ddid not trip either of htese last two times. I am not certain as to what would cause this. They have told me that I will probably have to either replace compressor or unit. I looked around and have been told about a hard start kit. I am not certain if this is even a viable option. I do not know how a new compressor will solve this problem of shortened out wires. ANY suggestions or ideas? Please!
