Hello, and thank you in advance for putting up with my question. I have a 9k btu mini split for my 20x15 master bedroom. Now we live in Vegas, but cant sleep unless it is cool. I need the room at 64degrees or lower, this was the reason for going with a mini split. The problem is the unit works ok 70% of the time, the other 30% the compressor will shut off even though we are 5 deg away from set temp. I run the unit in the following mode, cool, fan on med. with the temp set at 62. Alot of nights the room will stay at around 63degrees and we are fine. Other nights the room will stay at 67deg and we sweat to death, then at about 3am or so the compressor comes on and the room begins to cool. I had another HVAC company come out and they evac and charged the system to confirm the freon level was good. Unfortunately that didnt help and i cant expect them to diagnose something that happens a few times a week. WHen the unit shuts the comp off i can use a IR temp gun by the units thermostat and it shows 67-70deg, so there is no reason for the unit to stop the compressor since its set at 62. I was thinking about just getting a bigger system, then a co worker put in a 12k unit in his living room and all be damned if he didnt experience the same thing. Both his and my units are Pioneer brand. Is there anything you guys think i missed? Is it worth just going to a different system? I even have thought about going to a standard compressor system as i am not impressed with this invertor stuff. Basically i want something to just blast cold air for 10-12hrs straight like and old window unit (HOA does not allow or i would).

Also this problem happens all year, not just during the summer.

Thanks for reading my novel!!

Set the fan to auto to see if that solves the issue. This should let the unit decide what speed it needs to keep itself running. I'm suspecting the unit in certain indoor/outdoor conditions is sensing something wrong and shutting down.

also make sure the on/off timer isn't some how doing this,,,,i only say this because i've had this problem with some of the mini's we've installed
