I have been having a hard time getting a straight answer on what a good solution is for over/under voltage protection with Mitsubishi mini-split units.

The two that have floated to the top are:

Intermatic AG3000
- Overvoltage protection, but no undervoltage
- One surge suppression event and it has to be replaced
+ 3yr Warranty

ICM Controls ICM493
+ Over & Under voltage protection
+ Built to handle 5 surge supression events
- 1yr Warranty

I'm always leery when a company that manufactures a more expensive & capable product won't stand behind it more than the bare minimum length of time.

Can anyone offer some additional insight on why to go with one of the above or opt for something else?

I have no faith in warranties it seems like the companies with the best warranties either don't honor them or you need the warranty all the time because they are trash. Of course then there's companies like field piece that have amazing warranties and honor them and are pretty darn good tools maybe not the best of the best but pretty darn good.
My point is warranty is not that important if it's actually the superior product which I believe the ICM 493 is the best thing available.

The thing I love about the ICM is that I can make it shut down the unit if the voltage is out of range.
