I’m installing a mini split in my two car garage. There are several “vents” close to the floor (really just 14”x4” holes covered in screen) that go directly to the outside. I’m wondering if I need to cover those up? Seems like it’d be inefficient, like running the AC with the windows open. But are they important? And that got me thinking, will I have to worry about positive pressure in my garage with a mini split?

What do you suppose is the actual purpose of the 14"x4" vents?

You probably used to have a hole near the high point also.

It acts like ventilation, helping cool the space.

Or, someone was using it as a sand blasting or painting booth, and had an exhaust system.

Close them up.
