Does it cool well? If so, clean it and leave it. Being full of mold is pretty common. Chances are a replacement unit will do the same thing. Clean it up and install a mold killing lamp designed for mini split unit one it to Help prevent the mold

If comfort is a factor then it would make sense replacing if funds were unlimited. I was under the impression it was being replaced due to microbial growth and changing the size will probably not lessen the chance on microbial growth on the new unit unless you are running a really high rh in the space.
