Maybe bypassing compressor

Why / how is the head pressure 600 lbs. ? I would want that answer first. If the bypass is opening - it bypasses TO suction, so the 100 lb. suction pressure would be expected.

I have a jacked up 3 phase compressor, 460 v TRANE split system. Compressor seems to be bypassing. I have the loud hissing noise, but my head pressure is getting close to 600 psi and my suction is going to 100. This is an r22 system. WTF?

That's a good point.

Although I have seen standard gauges slam-pegged on R-22. And what's that? Max reading of 500 lbs. maybe?

Are you sure that it is R22? Lots of things would have to fail/get bypassed to get that kind of head pressure. R410a would most likely be the refrigerant.
