Market for 3rd party apogee bacnet client

Today I received a call from a Siemens agent asking if my BACnetP2 gateway could be used to provide a BACnet client functionality for a clients apogee installation.

It seems that Siemens is withholding / no longer selling their BACnet client software / panels.
The client has purchased a new chiller set which comes with a BACnet interface.
The client is being told to upgrade his whole system from apogee because the new chiller cannot be accommodated.

Is this a local problem or is there now a market for apogee P2 to BACnet client gateway software?

Yes, this has been a far more common scenario in my experience as well. Clients ripping out the P1 front end, replacing it with a BACnet front end, and using a P1 Master to BACnet Server gateway (also supported by the ICC Mirius) to bring in all of the legacy P1 field devices.

From my experience, this type of scenario arises because the client's Apogee system is old and uses P1 to communicate on the FLN bus to existing field units. Since the new chiller only supports BACnet, it can't be added to the existing Apogee system. In this scenario there are two options, use a BACnet Client to P1 Slave gateway to connect the BACnet chiller to the existing P1 FLN bus (such as the ICC Mirius) or upgrade the entire existing P1 system to BACnet.
