30 years in the business and I still use a direct water tube manometer. That's all we supply our techs with for burner manifold adjusting. Yes I have to fill it with water each time I use it but I never question its accuracy. It doesn't need batteries and never gets out of calibration. I carry a Ritchie that goes to 2lb for diagnosing failed or undersized regulators only on the line side. Anything other then a water tube needs to be calibrated.(technically speaking) Gauges are dropped causing them to be off and digital manometers are useless when the pressure fluctuates due to an improperly vented regulator. How do you calibrate these? How are you sure they are accurate?

Have you ever hooked up your gauge manometer only to have it peg out from an improper or defective regulator? Not so good for the gauge. If the water spits out of my tube I know to use the 2lb gauge to see what's happening.

Same with amprobes. I still use an RS-3 analog amprobe.

Hell yeah! Water is the way to go! Low maintenance! Been using them for 10 years!
