Have any of you ever had a intermittant problems with the bin switch itself?
Causing 3.5 minute harvest errors. A month or a couple weeks apart.

I have fad a couple bin switches do this. Never seems to happen when your there. Change out the switch there cheap

I just might. I can't go there until Tuesday. But from what the boss said "customer reset machine and is making Ice fine". And said he had to do it a couple weeks ago too.
I was there a month ago and found machine off on 2 blinks. Cleaned evap, water distributer and hoses. I also thicken up Ice a bit by adjusting sensor. Machine ran fine and psi's and harvest time was were well with in range of specs.
I think I like those mechanical ICE-O-Matic's better because when there broke, they are really broke.:D

If the curtain is hanging open the machine should just shut off as if it were full. Two blinks, in my experience is:
1) Ice thickness control either set too thin, dirty, or malfunctioning
2) Bin switch malfunction
3) Water leak, or bad fill, causing ice to be too thin to harvest
4) Compressor shutting off during cycle
5) Water pump failure
6) Water curtain not aligned right.
You can't trust the blinks completely. Many times a long harvest just happens to coincide with very slow ice production. It depends on when in the cycle the problem develops.

I'll have to check those things out Tuesday. I did think the water fill was kind of slow. But since this machine has a water level sensor. I did not think it would cause a 3.5 minute harvest. But maybe it will? One of the water filters was dated a year ago. Nickel plating looked good. Also I did not see any water going down the drain during freeze and I also cleaned the ice thickness probe.

I was able to go to the machine today, This is what I got.
97 condensing air temp.
79 water temp
Harvest time -1 minute 15 seconds. suction during harvest 85psi discharge 185
freeze time-13 minutes
psi beginning freeze- Hi 295,lo 50. Lo maybe a tad high?
psi end freeze- hi 255, lo 27
I was hoping for a cool discharge line indicating txv over-feed but I never saw it drop below 160 in freeze. It was running around 197 degrees. Even after 3 freeze cycles. May change bin switch tomorrow. And then board if problems continue.

I am not running out of water before harvest intitiates. I watched it for 3 cycles today. I decided to remove all doubt and set it to manf. recommendations 1/8 inch bridge using tape measure, which is a tad thinner than I previously set it. I do know one thing the problems getting more frequent because it was out on 2 blinks today.:D

Thanks Guys,
But I didn't even get back to the machine today. The customer has 2 machines so they okay for now.:) I ran into a silverking reach-in freezer with a Americold pump in it that's locked up. I want to go in with a readily available tecumsheh. If I can find out which one to use. I'll make another post about it.

Hey guys,
I forgot to give an update on this machine. I ended up bending the water level probe up for a higher water level and I replace the thickness probe and curtain (bin) switch per manitowok tech support suggestion. Machines been running fine. How do I know? Because I had to fix their other machine the other day. (dump valve leak-by) No brainer:D
