Also they did this because of noise in a room upstairs. Would acoustical blankets on the compressor help?

Contact the manufacture for sound blankets but I think upstairs is screwed!

Looks like sound blankets are already on. Also someone installed the sound isolation pipe hangers. I'll pull off the rock wool.

Looks like that chillers been there a little while, was this a recent complaint.
Wether it is or not, that's not the proper way to address the problem.

It's been here about 2 years I think. It's been an ongoing problem. This is in a physical rehab place so they just never end up putting someone on this room. I'll see what I can do about getting something done but I think they probably don't want to spend money and do it right. This is what I put up with routinely here. Ah the joys

What kind of chiller is that? It looks like scrolls off to the right in the second pic? Why did they cover up the barrel (if that's what happened)?
The proper thing to do would be to insulate the mechanical room from the rest of the public spaces.

I believe it's a scroll with 3 scrolls each circuit. It's a York. I can get the model later.
