Hi all. I am a homeowner and I have a Carrier 48SS 5 ton cooling and heating package unit. The cooling works fine but there's a problem with the heating that I just can't figure out. The heater turns on just fine but after about 5 or 10 minutes, it stops blowing inside the house but the fan on the unit is still blowing. I think that's some sort of exhaust. At this point the unit doesn't respond to anything on the thermostat and the only option I have is to reset the circuit breaker. Then it turns on again and blows for a little bit but then I get the same problem.
A few weeks ago I opened the panel and watched the LED blink 8 times while the problem had occurred. The error code for 8 blinks is "internal control fault". The unit is over 10 years old so I thought it needed a new board so I ordered a new one and replaced it earlier today. Even with the brand new board I'm having the same problem with the same error code. Now I have no idea what else to do.
Any help is appreciated.
