Buy a smaller portable AC from Lowes. Use it for the bedroom. Then you can buy a smaller more efficient generator. In Florida, it is rare that the power is off that long unless it is a major storm.
I agree! I would not be running my home system off a generator. I just think the majority of these conventional generators produce to much dirty power.

I'm sure they’re some expensive generators out there that probably do a pretty good job at staying stable. The biggest issue with "most" generators is getting a stable 60Hz, I've always heard a generator can easily vary +/- 10% in both frequency and voltage.

Inverter generators are more stable but the price goes up. Trying to start a 4-Ton A/C will load up a lot of units and cause major voltage and he swings. That in turn can and does damage computers.
I agree! But you better have some deep pockets to buy a 120/240 inverter generator to do what the OP wants to do.
