Hello to all !
I'm in the process of finishing my basement, and i'd like to move my Gas Furnace against the wall (to get more open space). My system consists of: Trane 80% efficiancy, 90,000 BTU/HRS gas furnace and Trane 12 SEER AC unit with the coil on the top of the furnace. Since I have to disconnect everything and build new duct extension, is it worth it to buy new 95% + efficiency Gas Furnace. I will be able to do all of the installations myself since I was in the HVAC field before.
Thanks.

how would we know??? since you didn't fill out your profile.....do you live in Florida or Wisconsin???.. that may matter.

and no DIY here.:D

Been some times since Trane sold a 90,000 BTU furnace so I'd put that one from the late 80s to 1991 max. Plus that model was known for cracked heat exchangers. So probably is time to put it out to pasture.

Thanks for all of yours reply.
I just went to look the unit again. It is XE 80 model with 100,000 BTH. It is in SO perfect condition, look just brand new! I'm not on the field for at list 10 years, and don't know much what is going on on the market. Of course I would like to have more modern, higher efficiency unit, but it worth to spend close to $?
Thanks again.
