I am not sure what you all charge for a change out, or condenser change out, but in a day an age where people are not making the same money, they have to find the best value / what's with in the budget. buy one $40.00 shirt, or buy 4 $10.00 shirts at walmart, it's not the same quality as the $40.00 shirt, but I get 3 more for the same price.

I am not sure why everyone assumes it's the cheapest bid.

I just did a bid. When I do them the customer must show me another bid or its a service call. If I go to bid, I am doing just that, not looking at what's wrong, just bidding. This guy showed me the other bids without block out the others numbers and I was shocked at that numbers.

One guy was $6,500.00 for a 3 ton 13 seer change out, another was $6,800.00, and it was in a basment with tons of working room, and was as easy peasy it could be. One guy I knew and he installed Ruud just like I do, I was nowhere near thoes numbers.

But then you get customers like my neighbor, he spent $6,300.00 for a 3 ton trane air handler and condenser with 10 kw heat strips. He told me he felt I was too low, go figure.

I believe, you have to prove you are the best value, then, and only then the numbers don't mean as much, so long they are within reason.
