Had to have a 4 point inspection to renew my home owners insurance.

The inspector pinged us on our relief valve on the hot water heater.

So I decided to just replace it..

My question, Do you have to use a License plumber to replace a hot water heater.
and is $ a little steep just to replace a hot water heater that I'm purchasing..

Pasco County, FL
40 Gallon hot water heater with Wifi. (Not tankless) (No new electric or plumbing needs ran)

I had a company come in and they gave me a quote with one of their hot water tanks and want $ which includes installation.

I asked what the price would be if i purchased the water heater that I wanted.
They told me it would be $ and would take about 2 hours...

The hot water tank I'm getting is only $ for installation seems pretty high..

What was the 'four point inspection' being generated?

Why not just replace the pressure relief valve and think about the water heater under less time constrained conditions?

In Pasco at least - you do need a plumbing permit to replace the water heater legally. So long as you live in the house in question you can do the work yourself so far as I know. A rental house is treated differently and in that case a licensed professional is required to do the work. I have a great plumber (the one I use in Pasco and Pinellas) if you need one

I'm a professional plumber since 2011 , I can provide some insights regarding your hot water heater replacement. While the requirement for a licensed plumber may vary depending on local regulations, it's generally advisable to hire one for safety and compliance reasons. Regarding the cost, it's recommended to obtain multiple quotes to ensure a fair price. While DIY installation is an option, it's crucial to consider warranty coverage and potential risks. Consulting with a professional plumber will ensure proper installation and peace of mind.

And do the licensed plumbers have a licensed electrician come to the job site to do the electrical wiring for the water heater replacement?
