Do you have a specific problem that you are having. It's been a long time since i have done Symmetre, probably about 16 years now and I don't miss it one bit. Between having to keep up with all the Microsoft Hotfixes and synchronizing an LNS database that might take all day was enough to drive me bonkers.

I don't have any documentation or videos. If you are going to be doing anything with Symmetre you need to take a class. Not sure who does them anymore, its possible Vern Peterson still does some but i am not sure if you are located in the states.

Oh god! Started with care programming which is still one of the best controller tool ever created in my mind. That said symmetre is a horrific steep learning curve with landmines everywhere. I was transitioning from mechanical service at the time into controls. The little I played with it left me feeling I have no chance to ever do this. Then came the jace and life was better. Hope I didn't discourage you to much Mohamed! LOL.

I never worked directly with Symmetre but it seems to be Honeywell's 'front-end' for the industrial market, where EBI (Enterprise Bldg Integrator) is for the building market.
I checked HVAC-Talk - someone has said that Symmetry & EBI are 'close'.

I'm an ex HON DDC - got lots of 'nicks & bruises' from the EBI/Care learning curve.
Attached are step-by-step CARE & EBI instructions to add new VAVs (from my notes from an actual customer service job at a hospital - I 'slick' it up using photoshop). Can never remember all those 'micro' details. Also attached is a basic EBI 400 manual I create for the HVAC staff (the guys who go to class but still ask 'how do I set a time schedule or trend a temp?') Giving them a working manual pretty much stopped those questions).

CARE was much better than Staefa's block logic program (SAPIM). Tridium is better than CARE (IMHO).

Let me know if that helps your Symmetre concerns. All the best.

During my HON controls service days they shipped me to Tridium AX certification class (2009 days - sub-prime 'meltdown' days - new const. went in the bag, joined the DDC service group). After HON bought Tridium their were a lot of internal politics and some 'buggy' AX installs - many mgrs. refused to send guy/gals to AX class. So after the AX class I asked the instructor (the 'famous' Gerald Huff) why did HON buy Tridium - EBI/Care is a 'world-class' platform. His reply: HON didn't want the competition to get it. Looking back I highly recommend experience on both sides: new construction & service. A HON controls engineering told me the former is the 'prints down' and the later is 'prints up' (sometimes you can't find the prints on old facilities - makes you get 'resourceful' ;-)

As others have noted Symmetre is the contractor version of EBI. EBI was sold only by corporate offices and included life safety capabilities Symmetre did not. If you search the Web for Honeywell EBI you'll find miscellaneous resources that should apply directly to your system. (Excel Building Integrator) There are a few pieces of software involved. "Quickbuilder" is the tool that is used to build a database of points. "Display Builder" let's you create displays. Display builder can be a very powerful tool with remarkable programmability. The user interface is separate from both.

All in all, EBI is a very powerful suite and that's no surprise given that EBI is a direct derivative of Experian. Experian is the product the Process Control side of Honeywell uses for things like automation of oil refineries

I've been told that EBI was originally developed at Honeywell Australia - based on Building Access front-end software.
EBI is peculiarly 'biased' toward Building Access (eg, card readers, door locks, card management, etc). Temperature controls got added to the 'access platform'; possibly Experian technology was also put in. Yes - EBI is a very powerful suite: Temp, Fire, Access, DVM, Energy.

EBI is still current and continues to be developed. Do a quick search and you'll find the current version is R600. It's available only from Honeywell branch offices. Branch offices can install either EBI or Tridium products. If a project is large with requirements for fire alarm, building automation, card access, CCTV/DVR, integration to third party systems, or industrial level controllers a branch will go with EBI. That's not to say that it isn't scalable. The different interfaces are priced individually and capacity is licensed by point count.

Regarding the previous comment. Experian is really the root product focused on process control and you can see it in the early display templates. EBI isn't really access control, temperature control, or life safety, or video biased. Any of them can standalone as complete packages or integrated into a single system.
