One of the old "cube" type condensers by GE / TRANE:

Model # BGTA742B1A01
Serial # 201948301

Is this a 3-1/2 ton unit made in 1st week of 1983?

House was built in 1964, 1150 sq. ft.

Thanks rundawg & mark. I was astounded they had 3-1/2 tons in an 1150 sq. ft. house. But then I discovered they had floor returns up through the walls & across to a pan duct made of ceiling wall board on bottom, 2X6 ceiling joists on sides, and what looks to be aluminum across the joists, with a layer of 1/2" of fiberglass insulation on top. Cross sectional area I would guess to be 160 sq. in. And a 1-1/2" X 10" gap in the wooden plenum in under the furnace.
