The unit is a TTJ724A100B0 the fan motor WW94X0412. What is printed on the housing is 1600 RPM Sleevebearing 200/230V 1Phase 1.8 HSP 16 RPM. I believe it is a 1990 unit. But egads there is no direct replacement with the same specs. Is CENTURY brand now my only option? And one more Q, why are ALL searches returning with superseded model replacements that have a capacitor? His has no capacitor. (Flux or otherwise). Ha ha.
We had the unit charged Shhhh with R22. Five pounds. Worked flawlessly. Turned off for the day and when returned the next day the unit powered up, but fan didn't budge. He forced/pushed started the fan as he and the tech did the day before, but day two the fan wouldn't budge. All three wires headed into the fan motor are HOT. And yet the fan isn't reacting.
The unit ALWAYS had to be charged with freon each season, we have left it unused for at least a decade. The exterior components are easy to access but the interior parts are in a tight attic space and he is hopeful a fan replacement in troubleshooting is the answer. Is this motor still being made? ANY INSIGHT? Help this car guys wife help him, won't you? Our tech of 30 years must be so busy in 100 degree plus he isn't returning my calls. :gah: THANK YOU!

He is laughing at me...YES we have a capacitor, but it is NOT attached to the motor as all the replacement models currently available have. Sorry I answered that Q wrong.

It's not exactly a DIY. Have a tech, he is swamped with service calls. Don't trust anyone else. I have the time to research the model and sourcing. Can you help with that? Thank you

The original motor had a capacitor, so if yours isn't wired with one, something is wrong.

Please reach out to a contractor who can investigate this issue and get you back up and running as quickly as possible.

As previously noted, we are unable to help you with solving any technical issue with this 33 year old unit.

It would also be in your best interest to start researching a new system. Should you have any questions with having a new system installed, we can help guide you through the process.

The ONE question I did ask is neither advice in operations or part number. I did ask if the Brand Century is now the go to brand for replacement. And why all the replacements specs don't match with the OEM motor. AND lastly, why ALL the replacements have capacitors attached on the motors.
The fan motor will be replaced...whether this forum answers or not. So...you are in no risk in any involvement in addressing this thread. Perhaps we can part and hope another member can address at least one of my inquiries? If I get three commentors I can piece them all together on my own. ~ Really Not asking how to build the watch...just what time it is.
 
Replacement motors for that are readily available. Many straight off the supply house shelf.
Your hvac guy should have zero issues providing one.

There are several manufactures out there who have motors that will work.

A qualified tech will understand how to wire a motor with a capacitor that is physically "attached" to the motor, or just part of the entire system.

Unless your are attempting to repair this system yourself, that should be enough information.

We are not faulting you for attempting to tackle a DIY repair, it is just that the forum rules forbid us from assisting.

No advice or answers just a comment.

5lb of refrigerant seems like more than factory charge. If it is the unit I’m thinking of it is only about 18” sq and 2’ tall, with a tiny control box in the corner held on by 3 screws.

Not saying it can’t hold that much if it has long line set but just seems like it would have had to be empty.

Thank you. All that have capacitors attached won't fit back into the housing. I think that is why this OEM unit has a wired capacitor not a "jetpack" attached one. Thank you for your time!
 
Hear Hear! Was curious who would catch that! �� Yes, you are correct. It was completely empty. We all agreed to charge it and see if it held. It was later after the charge he revealed the price per pound. EGADS. Last time I think we paid him *** a lb? This one is 2' square and I would guess -3' tall? She may be tiny, but she is mighty! We have deep respect for the oldies...and try to hold on to as many without Chinesium as we are able. Thanks for your comment.
 
The motor is still available as has been pointed out. You don't want to replace the 1600rpm motor with a 1075rpm - the difference can cause more problems.

That unit is so old that the lineset connections are quick connect fittings. Those old fittings tend to leak with age.

I know you don't want to hear this but you've exceeded the expected life of this unit. It's time to start budgeting for a new system.

You had an empty unit charged without ever looking for a leak?
