Purchased and installed brand new electric furnace in my home. (Winchester model WMA 48-12)

I am getting a flash code of "multiple limit openings during one call for heat". Was told this was an overheat issue. Once temperature is reached according to thermostat, the heat coils will shut off but the fan constantly runs.

Since then I have added a vent on my return air duct as well as added a vent in the basement. Still same problem

If I take out jumper wire to run only half of the coils, the furnace runs and shuts off OK but is not sufficient enough to keep the house warm.

With the jumper wire installed I can see entire coil cycle on and off every 15-20 seconds producing great heat while on.

What do I need to do in order to run this furnace properly?

you need to not be doing this kind of thing because you have no knowledge of why it does what it does, this site isnt a do it yourself, its apparent what the problem is, to a trained pro, hope you dont burn down your house....

I have called contractors and none have shown, even after making arrangements to be here for their "appointments". Had I known this was a contractor site I would not have asked, for that I apologize. I now realize I cannot get help from a contractor online or in person.

Nonsense. Did you literally install it yourself? If so, do the contractors you are speaking with know this?

Are you way out in the sticks somewhere?

I am out there pretty far "In the sticks". There arent even internet providers out here, I am on my cell phone.

And no its not nonsense, 2 different companies were called and did not show.

I don't understand why somone cannot tell me what I need to do

There are plenty of sites that will fall all over themselves to help you. Be very discerning when listening to them.

We don't want anyone getting hurt. It's not just you - anyone with a cell phone can happen upon the unlocked sections of this site and, believing themselves to be suddenly able to negotiate a furnace and high voltage; get themselves killed. You might be perfectly competent...they might be complete idiots. But their children don't deserve to suddenly lose their parent because so...

Your limits are doing their job...go from there if you must - but please be very careful.

Could be miswired or short on airflow. If you keep running it like that you could burn your house down, and insurance may not pay the bill.

How big is the current furnace, (How my KW of heat) and how big was the old furnace? It sounds like your air flow is not right. We can point you in the right direction but we can not and will not give you step by step instructions to kill yourself with. 240V will kill you, and an electric furnace has a lot of amps to give. We dont want the furnace to give those amps to you in any other way then warmth.

Did you tell the contractors that you installed it yourself? You must not be calling the right contractors if they are stiffing you on a scheduled time.

We are forbidden to assist with DIY attempts by web folks. This looks like a 4 ton unit? Who sized this purchase? You have a small home at 900 sq. ft, which means this unit is nearly double what you actually need. Call a professional, and get some assistance, sorry we can't help.

You put it in yourself? I bet you saved a fortune over using one of those evil contractors who gouge on prices.

One thing you can do yourself is get an accurate thermometer and measure the temperatures at a return grille and at the supply register closest to the furnace. Post here what these temps are and we can give you SOME advise on what to do from there. Sounds like you have an airflow issue that can be either a furnace problem or a duct problem.
