After some good advice on this forum, I've learnt that one thing I need before getting a new HVAC is a heat load calculation. Just replacing the current unit with a new one of the same size is less than ideal.
I'm having a really hard time finding someone to do a load calculation! My previous company merely counted the number of registers on the floor to estimate the size needed (and came up with the same number as the existing furnace), another company I asked to quote a new HVAC measured the perimeter of the house, counted the windows and came up with the same number. My (limited) understanding is that a heat load calculation is much more involved; I am willing to pay good money for this, as long as someone does a good job!
So my question is - can I get a recommendation for a reliable heat load calculation person in Detroit, MI area?
Thx!
