I'm working on an hy-6 steamer that is shooting me a slow flashing service light. Does anyone here have any information on how to read the code for this?

Ahhh, thanx. Scaled up water probes was the first thing I checked. I even slipped in a brand new set out of the van just for good measure. Maybe a circuit board issue then. Of course it's sandwiched in between a huge double oven & another Hy-6......

Ok, so by grounding the top probe wire, it fires up, but still shoots a slow service light. Changed out probe for brand new ones, nothing changed. Anything else I might try

I can take the top wire off, the water solenoid activates, then if I put the wire right back on, the machine operats fine. It will not re-start on it's own though.....

Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner. It is just as you suggested. The probe is touching the scale in there. This unit is somewhere around 12 years old with no filtration on it, the scale has built up so high that it's touching the probe and as suggested, the other side is right on it's tail. New steam generators are $2800.00 each so they are going to replace the unit. I am going to keep it for parts & plan on cutting one of the generators apart. I will post a pic. Thanks all.

I appologize to badbozo for not making it clear that this was a gas unit.

The water at all but one of my schools here is pretty decent, but they have put filtration on the steam equipment in all those that they have remodeled. Question: how effective is this filtration and is there any specific brand or model that is better than the rest?
