Hard pipe better than flex connector, some inspectors will fail installation for flex connectors to furnace

AGA approved flexible appliance connectors are fine for this type of installation.

Yep - In Dallas they are fine up to a certain length.

we can use flex connector, but it may not pass thru cabinet.

Here at school the instructor said its ok to pass the flex connector thru the cabinet as long as the opening has a rubber " groumet" or gasket on it.

I noticed the last leg of my gas line to my furnace is galvanized instead of black pipe. I also want add a drip leg. I think I can do this and also run black pipe through the cabinet instead of flex. My only question concerns the beginning of this new run, which will join existing pipe. Do I need to scrape out the old joint compound? Can you use a wire brush or is there a better method?

Yellowdot and crew, OK I sense I better not ask any more questions, however,I do apreciate the answers. I've already done pipe all the way through. I was worried that the vibration may rub the line and cut it through. I'm almost done with this project, damm next time call the professionals, this job kicks my ass..Hear that Yellowdot!!!

Just wait until you finally done. Your tired and have a headache from the heat and when you go to turn it on it does not cool right.
