I have a gas fireplace from fireplace mfr inc model number 3600. We haven't used it in a couple of years. Decided to light the pilot a couple of weeks ago when the heat went out. Now the fireplace will flame up on it's own. I have a carbon monoxide detector and it's not going off, but this makes me very nervous. any suggestions on why this is happening?

No wall switch or remote. converted from wood burning to gas. Have checked all over online for my model number from FMI, can't find a thing. turned the pilot off for now.

Thank you for your assistance

No wall switch or remote.

Is it on a thermostat then????
To be honest I have no idea. my ex husband had it put in a couple of years ago. Never used it. Turned it on a couple of weeks ago and decided to leave the pilot stay on. All I can say is there is a black knob in the front of the unit that you use to turn on and off and higher and lower. was told just to keep the pilot on and use the knob when I want to turn it on. I don't know anything about fireplaces what so ever. I have since turned it completely off until I can figure this out.
