Gents I am a newbie to this forum, Last night my AC stopped working when I turned it on, the outside condenser and compressor unit comes on but no air thru the vents.
Called the tech this morning and he diagnosed it to be a bad furnace control board and asked to replace it. The home was built in 92 and I am the second owner since 2003. The only history I have on this unit is that the evaporator coil was replaced in 02. I do not know what is the history behind the furnace unit.
Would it be better for me to spend the 3 figures and replace the control board or spend 4 figures and replace the furnace unit. Please advise. The tech recommends replacing the furnace unit.
He is recommending Goodman Amana and do you think buying the 10 year labor warranty makes sense. I live in Houston and Goodman is local here and hence recommended locally due to easy parts availability.
Thank you for your time and help in this matter.
