I'm pretty sure Trane knows what they're doing. Any other method would not be safe.

No other way is safe? My first thought would have been some all thread run to the bottom of the unit and then a few pieces of strut run under the unit to hold it up! To me that just looks bad. But hey to each there own.

Aside from the wiring rat's nest, we can't see if the unit was hung in such a way as to enable a tech to service the gas valve, safeties, and burners.

i worked for a company awhile back that had me install the a/h in a basement using s-lock screwed to the unit...passed inspection but id rather use uni struts if i had a choice.
