I'm pretty sure Trane knows what they're doing. Any other method would not be safe.

No other way is safe? My first thought would have been some all thread run to the bottom of the unit and then a few pieces of strut run under the unit to hold it up! To me that just looks bad. But hey to each there own.

Strut won't work on the bottom, how else are going to access the burner tray?

i worked for a company awhile back that had me install the a/h in a basement using s-lock screwed to the unit...passed inspection but id rather use uni struts if i had a choice.
