I have a fire place in my living room which is never used. i would like to close it off. the damper is leaky. I plan to place some insulation in a heavy plastic leaf bag and place it in the flu with a tag on the handle of the damper warning that it should not be used. Comments appreciated. thanks

Sounds alright... they also make balloons that you can put up there and fill which is a pretty air tight system from what I hear.
