Dual Fuel Heat Pump for Oil Furnace - Bosch vs. Rheem

Dual fuel been around many decades, in the old days they just used a mechanical switching adjustable OD controller with a single pole double throw switch for the most part, and relay for emergency heat mode.

Shouldn’t have an issue getting the outdoor unit to integrate with a kit to get a Hybrid system. Certainly kits are more complicated than the ole days.

As mentioned make sure the indoor coil is raised above the furnace. We had a recent post here about ThermoPride mentioning a minimum of 3” height elevation, unless the coil manufacturers asks for more. Follow what the coil manufacturers says, then thinking use ThermoPride as a default?

“And what are your thoughts with regard to the low-ball Rheem quote”

The RP15 comes with decent factory features, ( page 3 ) a high and low pressure switch, built in filter drier, full wrap around louvered sheetmetal skin to protect coil. Shows as one option a compressor sound blanket.

Match the indoor coil to the outside unit to see what your SEER2, EER2 and HSPF2 are, as you don’t go buy the ratings of the outdoor unit alone.

Ask them for the AHRI number then go to this site to check your rating, not real world numbers but if you can get around 15+ SEER2 Ct. may have money in your pocket rebates. There is also the Federal Tax Credits.

They spec'ed the RHE RP1542BJINA and the RHE RP1536AJINA.

The B after the tonnage size means 2nd Design, the A means 1st design, basically the A model is a older new unit…
