Use your common sense and sanitize the ice machine.
I must not have any common sense, could you please clairify? Are you saying you only run sanatizer through the machine and don't empty the ice?

My $.02 = If the machine gets regular service and is in an area where they dont get too slimy and moldy, the above method might work without empting the ice. For the other 95% of them you should empty the ice while you run the chemicals through it and then plan on taking several hours to clean everything as best as you can. If the customer has a few 5 gallon bukets and a walk in freezer they can stockpile some of the ice so you dont have to melt it all in a sink or throw it all outside.
