Wow.

One tends to think that with that many problems, that the problem is not with the manufacturer but rather with the technicians doing the preventative maintainence.

We service many True coolers and freezers. Besides a few failures here and there, the equipment works great when its taken care of.

I'll bet if you educate your customers as to why everything is failing, 90% of the time it can be traced back to improper maintainence or abuse/misuse.

I suppose you don't work on many Kairak units.....

I don't do much recommendation when it comes to equipment selection, for that matter I don't even sell ice machines.
What do I care if a fridge is a piece of crap,I make my living by fixing them things.

lots of probs

Apparently in canada alot of the cooler manufacturers have shut down...Ive been recommending beverage air... I Havent had to work on many of those...which is good for the customer... The probs Ive had arent maintenance related... Ive had many true coolers leak in evap usually around 2 to 3 years...My biggest prob is leaks in evap ....Ive replaced many evaps from other companies and never had to replace that same evap in that time.... I had a freezer completely burn up all electrical ... I had to rewire entire under unit....and now the cap tube is plugged and I have to run a cap tube from under unit into top...why this three door freezer doesnt have a tx valve is another issue.. and once you start taking screws out of the paper thin covers...just seem like junk...we always stress clean condensers and we schedule blowouts on all these customers... maintenance is not the problem..sorry Ive had a real rash of probs recently.... maybe a bad run in the last couple years...::D:D

I'd agree, TRUE isn't exactly the top of the line piece of equipment on the market today.

It seems to me though that the customer is getting exactly what they want.....cheap.

Kinda makes me wonder about a manufacturer's take on things - "We can focus on cost, speed of production, or quality, pick 2........oh, and one of the 2 HAS to be speed of production.";)

Uhh yeah right! you obviously havn't seen a True braze/bubble gum joint.

I'm with ya on them being crap! unfortunatly my company pushes True so I didn't say that and I'm not actually here;)

BUT In warranty True failures are less than 1% of total units built!:D
(said by true factory tech. with customer that bought 3 new units and each one was out of refrigerant from a leak and 1 had a bad compressor)

True isn't the most expensive unit on the market, but Customers know this going in.Most large chains think it is cheaper to replace the unit after 7 years or so,and just throw the old one away keeping down expensive repairs that nickel and dime ya. After being beat up by restaurant workers for a few years even the best units have problems.:D

True coolers

Ihave 12 of them less than ayear old done lost three compressors two others have come down with leaks if this doesnt tell you everything that you need to know about true junk then go out and buy aboat load of them.

Maybe its not the cooler but what they keep in it. Vinegar salad dressings uncovered in a cooler can be a problem.
this is a good point. not that i am defending True, but vinegar, salad dressing, sliced tomatoes, highly salted deli meats like pastrami and corned beef will eat through an evap coil in no time.

Granted, these units blow to work on, but how they can generate the dollars. Keep the tomatoes and vinegar flowing and we'll clean em up and make em like new. All for a price of course.:)

what quality brands do you favor markettech?

I haven't had many problems with the True equipment that I maintain -- if you don't maintain the equipment, you'll have problems.
