can you close liquid line and make sure compressor will pull down into a suction , then kill power to compressor and see if it holds suction

might be weak compressor so lets test it

if that's 404 your gonna need that low side closer to 20 psi

Yes sir it is r404. I've worked on quite a few and usually only see the low side this high when it first starts that's why I'm stumped. Usually will throttle down to 45-50 low side. It's a high volume store and they had the front door open and it was raining off and on trouble is they have another display case SB5755 a little bigger at a right angle to this one and it pulls down to 22 degrees and cycles , this one I'm working on will pull down then actually raise temp
these are Freezers .... correct ? If so , the most the health dept will allow is 5 F above 0

Has anyone else been repairing these ? Could someone have played around with the TXV ?

Try screwing the TXV valve out half a turn ccw

How hot is compressor ? It should be nice and cool where suction enters
