OK so I get a call today from a customer with a scrambled 100 ton E compressor, its on a DX Air Handler with VAV boxes about 26 years old. Tells me this compressor has lasted about 4 years and he is pretty happy that it lasted that long, guess he has had multiple failures over the years. Any how he tells me that the compressor was de-rated by someone at the rebuild shop, I am assuming they plugged or capped one of the oil supply lines to the unloader internally,I asked why they didnt just leave one of the unloaders unhooked and he said some Trane engineer didnt recommend that, any one else see why that would be a problem.
This was my first time to this job and apparently it is oversized, but I am also interested in how they are controlling this thing.
