Where's the old heap located? Not sure if there was a place inside the unit for a filter but could be in the return at the unit or somewhere in the house like a filter grille.

The unit is new. It was just installed last Spring. It sits outside. I removed the front and side panels - no filter visible.
Their is a place for one between the unit & the house, but, in the new unit - nothing???
Thanks for your prompt reply.

Ha ha.

It sounded like an old unit to me also, and I was thinking the same thing.

OP- call the installing contactor. Filters are some where in the unit, or house, or never put in to begin with.

I'm having trouble getting the installer to return my calls???
Why do you guys have the impression that this is an old unit?
Where would the filters be if they were in the house?
Thanks for your quick reply.

Filters will be between the unit and return grill. They might be in the return grill.

If you are having trouble locating them, it is quite likely that there are no filters installed.

BaldLoonie thinks every Carrier is an old heap. Pay no attention. He's just having fun.

If you are having trouble getting the dealer to return your call for something this trivial call Carrier or their compadre Sears and voice your discontent. Someone should be in contact with you. If this goes unanswered, contact your local media hound and he, she, or should have fun with this one.

Likely the largest grille in the home, could be more than one.Located in floor, wall,or ceiling, the one the pulls air in to it and back to the unit.

All systems need a filter, call the installing contractor.
