Buzzing/humming noise only when draft inducer motor running

First, a little back story.

Over the summer, I had a HVAC company come out and replace the outdoor AC unit. They offered to replace the furnace as well but since it's working PERFECTLY, I told them not to worry about it and just do the AC. After they were done, there was a LOT of debris inside the furnace that I used a shop-vac to suck up. (Long story on the AC unit.... check my post history :) ..... they came out a few times to try and fix the obnoxiously loud buzzing sound coming from the line set and eventually they replaced the outdoor unit with a new one and problem solved)........... ok, back to the story.

Now that fall is setting in, I had to use my furnace a few times recently and noticed a new noise, that absolutely wasn't there last fall!

When the draft inducer motor is running, I hear this weird, high pitched buzzing/humming noise. (I started having a flashback of the line set buzzing problem from the summer AC job. :) .... and just like that problem, you can hear this new, furnace buzzing sound as soon as you're half way down the steps into the basement.) The noise isn't horrible, and I can -probably- live with it, but it's kind of annoying and wasn't there before and if a inducer motor can fix it, I'm down with replacing it.

I sat and watched the furnace go through a full cycle.... the big blower motor in the bottom of the unit kicks on....flames start heating air and then a short time later, the draft inducer motor starts turning and the weird noise starts. As the cycle ends, the draft inducer motor stops (as does the weird buzzing noise) and a minute or so later, the big blower motor stops.

I'm 100% convinced the problem is with the draft inducer motor.

I have a 20+ year old Lennox G40UH-48C-110-03 gas furnace and I think the part that needs replaced is part # 24W95.

Since this is a gas furnace, I'm going to have a professional deal with it. A friend of a friend -IS- certified to work on gas systems and he said to just get the part and he'll replace it. It doesn't look like a hard job but he offered to do it for free.

Couple of questions:

1) Is that the right part # for the inducer motor that fits my furnace?

2) Since it's working perfectly fine (other than the new noise), should I just have him remove the existing part and check for debris that might have fallen in?

3) I only hear the noise when that inducer motor is running ... do you think that inducer motor is the problem or could something else be happening that triggers the noise when the inducer motor is going?

Thanks

#1 Site rules do not permit providing or confirming part numbers in keeping with the NO DIY policy

#2 That’s up to you. New part or inspection first is your call.

#3 draft motors fail. I’m not there to differentiate one noise from another.
