I have insulated a fresh air intake duct. They want to see if I could do some carpentry work and screw studs through the insulation and in to the duct so it can be dry walled around the whole duct without getting a real union carpenter to frame an entire wall around it. Every time I put a self tapping screw through the stud it will never penetrate the ductwork and it twists the insulation around. What is the best way to fasten a screw through metal studs into the insulated duct? It is a duct wrap insulation.
