I never thought buying tubing cutters would be such a hassle. I bought an imperial cutter TC1010 and it's the biggest piece of junk ever, walks all over the tubing. Anyone tried Imperial lately? I've sworn off Imperial, Rigid and Milwaukee. Lenox is decent if you change wheels to a good sharp one, but no great shakes.
After a couple of junk cutters I stumbled onto a YJ cutter that was like $55, but it's a great cutter, cuts true and sharp as a razor.
So much of the old brands are just junk now.

Well holy cow, it never occurred to me. I just asked for a cutter at the supply house and they handed me that one. Makes more sense now, the previous ones had blue handles and this one is red, I bet that's the color code. Never dawned on me.
Well learn something every day! Thanks guys!

I'm really happy with my mastercool cutter.
USA made, roller bearings for both the cutting wheel and support wheels, and the cutting wheel stays sharp a long time.
Only thing I don't like about it is the rubber band on the adjustment wheel.

I tried the Navac 1/8"-3/4" cutter recently and I love it. It is very sharp and quick cutting. I used to be a rigid loyalist but I will be switching over to all Navac cutters now.

Here's what I've learned in over 20 years of experience as a plumber and a guy who uses wheel-based cutters:

- Lube the rods/axles/pins holding the cutter wheels
- Lube the pressing part - the threaded rod and hand wheel
- Don't try to force it to cut
- Change the cutter wheel when you have to force it
- Don't use an improper width cutter wheel. Look it up on the OEM website
- Aluminum tools SUCK. Use lots of oil everywhere. Don't leave them wet.
- All modern cutters are aluminum (see above). Replace them every few years. They wear out and make crappy cuts.
- Use the proper cutter for the job (a copper cutter is not correct for CSST)
- Buy cutter wheels in bulk

I had a Ridgid for so many years, can;t find it anymore so i bought another one.
after few monts accidentally dropped from a 8 foot ladder, it somehow bended a little and not able to use it anymore.
Got a small Lenox, its okaish, do what suppose to do but not crazy about it.
i'll try the YJ, Following your suggestion, however the one you got seem the big one, i'll the small for tight spaces.

The YJ cutter that came in my tubing bender kit is one of the best tubing cutters I've used.
