I saw that Ben got hit by a car while riding his bike. He was hurt pretty bad it sounds like. I think Carson Palmer may have been driving the car he hit.
I sure hope he recovers ok.

i live about 5 miles from the accident scene.
i have been involved in motocross racing since i was 12 years old and my son who is now 17 has spent 7 years in competative racing. my son was life flighted off a motocross track 3 years ago with head injuries. he fully recovered but it is a day i will never forget. his helmet saved his life. imagine hitting a 90 foot jump and landing on your head with a 200 pound bike pile driving you into the ground. i blamed myself for getting him involved in a sport that almost killed me in a similar way.
being part of the racing community we have many friends that recieved head injuries. some that didn't survive. i'm talking 12 year old kids.outstanding human beings who thought they were indestructable. others were the never same again. severe personality changes, trouble talking, difficulty in school. their lives are changed for ever for doing something they love. all that is left of these dead kids is "in memory of" stickers and destroyed families.
i never really had any passion for street bikes but i feel anyone who throws a leg over a bike without wearing a helmet is a fool. i don't mean to offend people who ride without a lid but do you braze without safety glasses? people claim a helmet can actually increase the chances of a injury. bull sheet. i don't know how it happens on the street but i have seen helmets save many lives on the track.
think about your families. think what they have to go through. having your kids change your diapers for you isn't a legacy anyone would want to leave behind because you want to feel the wind in your hair or to look cool sitting on your chopper. maybe you guys who ride without a helmet can get some cool "live to ride" diapers or a nice harley bandana to sop the drool running out the corner of your mouths while your laying in the hospital bed in your living room. these is a severe but realistic picture.
i know i will get pounded for these statements but severe trauma is just a soccer mom driving a suv away.
That explains why I have never heard of him.acmanko said:I think he might be the QB for the Steelers.
Now we know whats wrong with him, he suffered a head injury and now he thinks like a republican, oh well, at least he has an excusebenncool said:There is a helmet law here in VT. My son dumped his Harley. Fortunately, he was only in the hospital 4 days with a broken shoulder. He and his wife both have there own HD's. She was out poping wheelies in the parking lot at their wedding reception. White gound and all!
Those things scare me to death. I keep hoping he'll get past this phase but it doesn't appear likely any time soon.
I am real sorry to hear about Ben. I hate to see anyone's life get so devastated.
Didn't even our own "Mr. I can't leave my business to have a weekend of fun." (aka James#s) get really messed up on a bike. I think he was just putting his body parts back together when I join this board. Who took care of things then?????
