Man, the "old school gamer" thing made me laugh, damn newbs!
Lets see, I started gaming when Dungeons and Dragons came in a plastic zip lock bag, then dropped it for Traveler. Played a number of paper and dice RPGS over the years, settled on the GURPS system, but haven't played those in a few years.
Did some wargames during that time, but they kinda died off with all the game shops. Computer games and the internet killed off that small industry.
Started off in computer games with a turn based mainframe game where you had to mail in your turn. Did a couple of text MUDs, dabbled in Ultima Online, then Meridian 59. Played Tanarus, 3d arena tank combat game that was a development step to the game engine for EverQuest, then was one of the first 100 beta testers for EverQuest.
Played EQ for 6 years, with side ventures into Anarchy Online and Dark Age of Camelot.
Stuck with DAOC for a couple of years, then rejoined my guild in World of Warcraft, which I played up until a couple of months ago.
Never had much interest in first person shooters or console games.
