Hi - I am wondering if anyone has had experience with an Amazon Smart Thermostat. based on my research, Amazon worked with Resideo (owner of the Honeywell Home thermostat brand ) to develop and produce the thermostat, and one review noted its internals are very similar to the Honeywell Home T9 and T5 smart thermostats. It’s compatible with most 24 volt HVAC systems. but doesn’t support systems with more than three stages or multi-speed fans.

I know from reading this forum the past 6 months most of you say to run away from Google Nest thermostats. I wondered what the thinking was on the Amazon Smart Thermostat (given it is produced by a more well known thermostat manufacturer)

As full background, I had a new Carrier Furnace (59TP6) and Air Conditioner (24ACC) installed back in December to replace my old 31 year old system. They replaced my old Thermostat with a basic Emerson 4" single stage programmable 80 series which works fine. But I can get the Amazon Wifi Smart Thermostat free after rebates from my utility company and wasn't sure if it made sense to do so and if the Amazon product built by Resideo (Honeywell home) was a quality product

My system uses 5 wires Y, G, W,C RH so it would be an easy swap if it makes sense to do so

Thanks

In all honesty the 80 series Emerson is about the toughest stat you can buy.
It's what I stock.
If you buy a basic sensi thermostat it fits the same mount as the 80 series.
So you wouldn't have to do any wiring if I recall properly.
Just pop the old one off and the new one on

Do you have a complete model # of the Amazon Resideo thermostat you are looking at?

Thanks - that is good to know. Yeah I have no issues with the 80 series Emerson. I have just been debating would I benefit from extra functionality with a wi-fi smart thermostat (especially since my utility is offering rebates on some of them)

Thanks for letting me know that the basic Sensi thermostat fits the same mount as the 80 series. In looking at pictures of each I thought that may be the case as the base looked identical. I didn't want to assume that but it would make sense. And that would make for a very easy swap then if I went with the basic Sensi instead
