I noticed the coil was clear at the bottom 5-6". Above that it had so much ice it was touching the outside grille. The Amana unit ASZC18036 was still maintaining set point. My concern was what was this doing to my unit. I could hear the fan blowing against heavy static pressure. The first tech said it's probably the defrost timer needs adjustment. Went with that and the next time O/S conditions were right; the unit still froze up. Had tech come back and we talked it over. I showed him where the ice stopped and we noticed it was right at the coil temperature sensor. He called Amana/Goodman and asked could he move the sensor higher on the coil. He did that and the unit has been frost free since. My compressor is locked out at 20° F. Thanks for allowing me to post this. I was searching for help with my CTK03 and came acrossed a picture of a frozen coil and thought I might post this. Hope this might help someone else. I tried to reply to the thread but couldn't find a way to do.

We had a thread here recently about that, the Installing Contractor could not figure it out. After telling them to call Tech. Services and suggested maybe the sensor needed to be moved, that did the trick. Thinking that was a Goodman GSZ14….there is a Technical Recall/Service bullitin dated 2019 did not mention the ASZC18 thou but maybe a newer bullitin mentions it. Went by a particular serial number. Thinking they would have picked up on that if your unit is after that year?

Thanks. I try to learn as much as I can about my unit. Currently, I'm dealing with my CTK03 lost communication with heat pump. Last year the tech checked it out and said he tighten some connections. Fixed it for a year.
