Hi Folks,
We will be installing an older Traulsen URS48 spacesaver this week which is similar to the newer Traulsen UR48DT. The unit we are installing was manufactured in 1987 and has an Ice Maker and a 3/4 Glass door on the cooler side. The box is in pristine condition but the previous owners had it stored on its side for a long time. So with that in mind, we are going to replace the entire cooling system on both sides and remote them to outdoors.
We are looking to try to make the unit as efficient as possible and use top of the line new parts for the rebuild. I spoke to Traulsen's engineers and they recommended using either Copeland, Tecumseh or Danfoss for the compressor/condenser parts.
Here is what they said I would need to achieve at both sides of the unit.
Cooler 1100 btu at unit +20 degrees
Compartment is 17.9 cubic feet (455 cu l)
The self-contained unit uses a 1/6 HP for this side
Freezer 1400 btu at unit -20 degrees
Compartment is 10.9 cubic feet (309 cu l)
The self-contained unit uses a 1/3 HP for this side
They also mentioned TXV 8-ton capacity.
Should we go with higher HP systems for the remote?
The lines for the remote will be about 10 feet long and will be ran outdoors to a shaded vented box that is against the wall that the kitchen is on. We are in South Florida, so is it still better to keep the compressors outdoors for efficiency being South Florida can get pretty hot?
We will be replacing 2 Traulsen G-series that are already remoted outdoors with this spacesaver.
Here is the specs on the newer UR48DT Spacesaver

Thank you in advance for your advice.
