Hi there. New to the board but have been reading for a while now.

I have a 1850 sqft ranch with a 3 ton handler in the basement and all the ductwork in the attic all on one zone. My master bedroom/bath are on the very end of the run and somewhat separated from the rest of the house. I have been contemplating the following options.

Adding a 9000btu heat pump on the wall of the bedroom and closing up all the ducts in that zone

or

Adding a 9000btu slim duct in the attic using the existing registers for feed/return.

The 2 issues I have with the wall mount are the sound levels (we like things very quiet), and that it may not heat the adjacent bathroom and closet.

Here is a quick layout I drew up

Its worthwhile noting that the ceilings are 11ft high in both the bedroom and bathroom and Im not sure if the wall mount will condition the air enough having to drop down and pass through the double doors to the bath.

Here are some photos of the room

Ive asked some local HVAC guys but they dont really seem to be the most knowledgeable about system design, especially when it comes to ductless. They all seem to be stuck in the past. Any help or suggestions you might have for me would be VERY appreciated.

Thanks!

I would think dual zone would be a little bit overkill for this setup. The house is very well insulated and to be honest I wouldnt really care about directly heating/cooling the closet as it is just where we keep clothes and stays fairly comfortable with the current duct shut off.

This in a 9000 btu seems like it would be a great choice and with a little fab work would cover the whole area. Its very efficient at 21.5 seer but the 30.5 seer Mitsubishi MSZ efficiency looks very appealing as well, just not too sure about where to locate it to get as much air into the bathroom as possible
